Im in the dumps

about two years ago i decided i wanted to be a crna. i have a degree in marketing so i had to go back and take some science classes before nursing school. i took around 25 hours and made an a in all of them. i got accepted to nursing school and started this fall. i just got back my first exam and scored an 88. at this particular nursing school, a 92 constitutes an a so there is a very real chance i will get a b in the class. i feel like being accepted to a crna program is becoming so competitive that i will need a 4.0 gpa. anyone have any thoughts on this?

thanks

I got in with my sad little 3.0 GPA. I made sure to explain myself in the interview and they seemed more understanding then I had anticipated. I also applied/got accepted to the school I did my undergrad at, which I think also helped me a lot. Additionally, nursing school tests are tough! They test a certain way than what most people are used to. An 88 certainly isnt going to kill your chances! Also, your grade is more than your tests. Clinical usually makes up a large portion as well, and that is much easier to do well in. Best of luck!

wow! You folks sure live in a different world than I! 3.0 is outstanding in my book~!

But then the only thing that kept me out of nursing school was high school:coollook:

where did you hear that you need a 4.0?? that's crazy. whomever told you that was making it up. jeez - even medical school isn't that hard to get into. i don't think anything is that hard to get into.

i've chatted with several different people in crna admissions and the all say the same thing. if your gpa is above 3.5 and your gre above 1000, you're getting in sooner or later - depending on your interview. if you gpa is more like 3.0, just have a good resume. look on the faq and see what kind of experience they're looking for and get a job giving you that experience.
