Anytime you have a baby, there is a 50/50 chance that anything could go wrong. Besides, just because a person has DM does not mean that they cannot have a regular life!!

You would have just as much chance of getting an infant with healthcare problems by adopting. Were you planning to adopt an infant? If so (don't take this as a flame I'm only being honest) I don't think it's fair to take a baby some one else is waiting for. Usually the people waiting can't have a child of their own. Now if your planning to adopt an older child then I admire you. Have you thought about a sperm donar? I'm so superstitious I would be afraid I would adopt trying to avoid a diabetic baby and get one anyway. How does your husband feel about this?

I hope you find the answers you are looking for, I'm sure they'll come from within.

I realized that i shouldnt worry having a diabetic baby,i will still love and care the baby.I just feel stupid for asking that kind of question.I keep reading books bout diabetes and that gave me strength to face the reality. And wanna thank you too guyz,God bless.

I see you have decided it will be okay, but just wanted to encourage you that my paternal grandmother had Type 1 DM. None of her seven children had it. Four of them have developed Type 2 in their fifties, though. And I don't think ANY of the grandchildren (who are all 30 and older) have DM or any of the great grandchildren either.
