I just have to share my excitement that I found out this morning that I passed NCLEX!
I also wanted to add to the ongoing discussion about SATA questions. I had 5 SATA questions, my friend had at least 30 and we both passed with 75 questions.
My exam consisted largely of infection control and patient teaching, followed by delegation, prioritization, growth and development, and procedures and diagnostic testing. I had about 7 meds - most straight from commercials. I knew the basic drug classes, but chose not to spend much time at all reviewing pharm. I studied with Kaplan and would highly recommend the program - the online lectures and question bank are so worth it! I also made use of Saunders, the Prioritization, Delegation and Assignment book, and the 250 Alternate Question Format Review Book from Lippincott. I read the Random Fact Throwing thread every day and got some of the greatest information from that. I felt so prepared, and even saw questions extremely similar to questions in these resources.
The exam is unlike anything I've experienced. I left the center relieved that it was over, but it hit me soon after that there was a possibility that I failed. I made the mistake of looking up at least 10 of the questions, having a major meltdown thinking I chose the wrong answer. I had a teary moment with my preceptor, and despite her overwhelming amount of encouragement, I was still upset. My advice: do not look up questions after the exam. The ones that will stick in your mind are the ones you were unsure about. The questions you are confident about leave your mind after you answer the question. The wait is the worst part, but the feeling after is SO worth it!
I am so excited to have this huge hurdle behind me, and I wish the best to those waiting for results and to those testing in the future!
