My school started requiring the NET a few years ago. Scores on the NET did not guarantee a spot. However, they also did not start the requirement in the middle of an Application Cycle. :uhoh21: I think it is odd that your school has done so.

I think you have the right idea to contact your school. You need to know if the new requirement will have any determination on your accpetance and if so, what impact that will be.

From what you have written, it sounds like you and others will be SCORED based upon factors to include the HESI. And so I do not think you are guaranteed a spot after you take the test. Good luck.

Hi and welcome to AllNurses.com. :)

First of all, it would all depend on how your school's application process is completed. Every school is different.

It may simply mean that your application is complete, and you are cleared to take the HESI, or it may mean your GPA is high enough that you can move to the next step, which is the HESI.

I would contact your school's nursing dept. and find out for sure. That way you will get the most accurate information.

Good luck! :monkeydance:

thanks for all yalls help i really appreciate it....and good luck to all of you as well....this is such a difficult thing (nursing program)....i think i will just contact the school and get all the correct info...thanks again

along these lines....

For my school, i had spoken to the director of admissions on the day that i took the NLN (which i'm assuming is similar to the HESI). He said that the way their process was run was that- there were over 1,000 applicants. out of that, they invited the top 300 (based on GPA) to take the NLN exam. Then from the grades on the exam, the top 100 applicants would be accepted. So they used the GPAs to filter out the majority, and then the test was the final determinant.

good luck :)

Congrats on getting "The Letter". I just graduated in December. We did not have to take a test before starting. But I wish you luck all the same. Be sure and call them and ask for clarification. And I hope you have a secretary in your program that has a better personality then ours. :uhoh3:

hey kim, im going to houston community college is that the same one as you??? well yeah i already took the pharm. test and let me tell you that was the easiest test ive ever taken...i feel bad b/c a lot of people in the testing room said they took the test like 3 times and failed and they went to that school and i never have i'm just applyin to the nursing program there. i dont know what the hesi test is about but the pharm test is part abbrev. and the other calculations just be sure to remember drop rate and all that (that is if you're takin the test at hcc) and if you didnt go to the tutoring session then go to the nursing office and pick up a study guide and a abbrev. page that has all the abbrev. that you need to know....but yes i have to take the hesi on the 12th and i called the people up there and they said everyone had to take the test so they really didnt clarify anything for me...o well...good luck everyone!!!

hey there! yup, that's where i'm at. i'm taking summer pharm. i have always heard how terribly hard that class is. so far, it seems difficult because of the amount of information i'm cramming into my brain. the content itself seems pretty doable. if you did not take pharm at hcc, why did you have to take a pharmacology test there? just wondering.

as for the hesi....i took the net when i was at a different school and did fine; however, the net did not have a&p on it. it's been awhile since i took a&p. good luck to you and keep in touch.
