I need some advice

Published

I think I will be ready to apply for nursing school by next Spring. I need to ask adivce on whether or not it would be even advisable to take Pharmacology in one of the summer semesters if I take it alone. I would either have to take 2 hard classes(one per summer semester) or 3 hard ones next fall. I am talking Phamacholgy, Microbiology and A&P2.

Definitely take either Pharm or Micro so that you don't have all three together. I don't think it matters which of the three you take over the summer, really, just take one of them!

I heard horror stories about Pharm before taking it, but really, I thought it was interesting and not all that tough. And I LOVED Micro - seems like most micro professors are pretty passionate about the subject and make it fun and interesting.

Good luck,

Amanda

Thanks!:)

I agree with Amanda. If you have the opportunity to take them in the summer, I definitely would do that.

I'm taking Pharm and Micro together this quarter and it's pretty tough to juggle both, although the material is kind of similar and the classes build on each other. I actually like pharm better than micro so that's what I study more. It's not impossible to do them together but both have a lot of material, so if you can take them separately, it would probably help.

Good luck!

I am taking Pharmacology right now and for me the micro was more challenging than the pharma. but all of this depends on your schedule and your instructor and what is your limitation. I recommend maybe taking the pharm. and another bio. together. I have heard horror stories about taking Micro. and A&P together but then other did fairly well. You may want to consider also what the requirements of your RN program are. For instance, at the college i applied not one student with a C in a science course got into the program and only one student with a B got in. I applied to 3 schools but the one that i attend had a nursing orientation meeting and the nursing advisor said that "if you make a C in a bio. you really need to reconsider becoming a nurse". So the bottom line for me and the school i am attending only A's are acceptable.

This is really a factor you may want to consider.
