I don't know what to do HELP ME!

Hi I came from the Philippines and finished the nursing course there, and planning to take the nclex here in California. I have sent my transcripts all of what they needed. After the long wait, they have responded to me and said that I lack the psychiatric hours (i think both theory and clinical practice) I asked them how many hours or units I have lacked and did not tell me how many hours that I lacked. They also send me some list of schools but then when I called the list of schools, I will be "wait listed" (WAITING FOR A YEAR! OR SO). Well I can't be put in a waiting list because I really need to take the test and have a job. The California Board of Nursing also told me that they have changed their standards in psych.. WHAT THE HELL. I called them the second time around and told me to contact my school and try to pull up some hours, if they can do that, I may have a chance.

My theory in psych is 40 hours and my clinical hours is 84 hours.. How can that be possible? I already graduated from the Philippines got my diploma and transcript and now they are letting me to enroll again? Pls. Help and share me your thoughts about this. I really don't know what to do. I contacted my school but they will not add my hours in psych because 40 - 84 hours is their standard..Enlighten me PLS!:crying2::crying2:

You are no worse off than anyone else who gets told their record isn't good enough. You are going to have to figure out how to deal with it to get what you want. All of those other nurses from the Philippines got their paperwork approved, so what is the problem? I would ask around with Filipino nurses to see what they can tell you. Best wishes.

I graduated in the Phil. as well. And applied on BON-CA for my nclex rn. And I just saw my friends completed hours in psych and my hours as well on the said concept. Both of us have 65 hours of theory. And on clinical's he got 96 hours and I got 101. And were from diff. school by the ways. How about inquiring on BON on some other state? :smokin:

Hmm.. wow that's a big difference you got their. Anways what school did you graduated mosaicism? Maybe ill try going back to the philippines and complete my psych? Is that good?

I don't know about going back and continuing it. You might just need to inquire on other states and apply. And if God willing you passed you might want to apply for endorsement. But CA will get the transcripts again, I guess. I am from Baguio. And you?

Get your phone and begin info gathering aggressively. This site is good to collect information. Heck, you should even visit the BON office and request to speak to someone to clarify the situation. After clarifying, if going back to the Phillipines is necessary then you can do that. That's my own suggestion

They gave me a list where I can enroll psych nursing! I called all of them and they said I will be wait listed-I may wait 1 year or so (I can't wait that LONG). I also told them if I go back to the Philippines and find a school they told me to send transcripts and they will evaluate it if the school is okay. hmm....

Hmm.. I really cant apply from other states because my family is here in CA and my friends too. Im from Manila by the way. Did your friends take up psychiatry again or they have just completed the hours while they are studying nursing. I see that your friends psychiatric hours are more than I do.

I can't private msg you I did not met 15 posts lol

Apply in a different state. That seems more convenient to me than waiting a year, or going back to the Philippines.

I just contacted the school, They told me that they will try to look under my files and see if they can pull up my hours.. Oh well

Maybe moving is really an option :D

you don't need to move/live on a certain state just to apply for nclex. you just need to meet their requirements. nope none of us took another course for the psychiatric nursing.
