I didn't get in...

Nursing Students CNA/MA

Published

So I applied for the only CNA course that wasn't full, and I had an interview with them this past Monday...Well I got a letter in the mail today saying they did not choose me for the class..No reason, just we decided on other applicants to fill the class.I'm so upset, and sad..I just want to cry.lol :scrying:

I really thought I was going to get in.I'm so bummed.

Do you have the option of testing out of the CNA course?

Have you gone to the long term care facilities in your area? Often they will give free classes for CNA with the expectation that they will get an employee or two from each class.

Was it just a matter of space or do they select students based on other criteria? I never heard of schools screening students before accepting them into a CNA class.

Do you mean they only have so much room but many wanted in? Put your name in now for the next class....be the 1st name on the list.

It is a local nursing home that gave the course for free..She said they are the only one in my town right now that wasn't full and there were only six spots left when I interviewed...I thought I did great, she was nice and seemed to like me.The next one I know of isn't until January and that's at the local public school's office.Oh well,I'm just going to send her a thank you note for giving me the time for an interview.

:) :(

Try the local adult schools. They sometimes offer the course, but usually you have to pay for it. If you want to be a CNA go that route. Good Luck

I agree:up::up:. Sometimes those free CNA programs can be really tough to get into :(

Try to imagine that there was a good reason why you didn't get in that will ultimately work in your favor. Between now and January, you have time to look around and possibly find a much better program. It seems like the place you went misrepresented their offering, and who wants to train someplace where the administration isn't honest... BTW, if you take a course at a local community college, there is a federal reimbursement program which will pick up your tuition incrementally over a year IF you choose to work in a LTC facility. I didn't know about this and it's not publicized. Basically you take the class (you pay up front) and then the facility reimburses you through federal monies over the course of a year through your paycheck. I knew that I wasn't planning to go into LTC, so I have not done any serious research. But if it is a federal program, it doesn't matter where you live. See if you can find out some details. Don't give up!

Where in the country do you live? When I wanted to take my course I did web searches to find all the listings for places that offered the course. At least half of the listings the places no longer offered them. However, a couple of them held monthly courses. Mine is only a 15 day course, 8 hours a day.

I took my CNA course at the local adult school and paid about $48 as I recall and about $40 of that was for the book.

I believe there is a reason for everything. So I am trying to think positive.lol.It;s just hard when I get my hopes up for something sooo much and then get turned down. It's not a good feeling.lol
