I didn't get into a BSN program with a 4.0

Hello, I just found out I didn't get into nursing school (BSN)

I have a 4.0 GPA. My nursing entrance exam score wasn't very high. I scored a 70. The minimum was 65 for the Kaplan.

My program is very competitive. Students with a 3.5 GPA and above were able to get the interview.

I am also prior military and I actually got an extra point added to my ranking just for that.

Is it really my score? Maybe the interview?

At this point I have no idea!

Any help? Suggestions on what to do next?

Maybe med school?

Agree with what other posters have said. Contact admissions office and find out what will make you more competitive. Also, admission into med school is a lot tougher then nursing. Even with a 4.0, do you have some stellar referees in high up positions at a university? Can you get a high score on the MCAT? Can you pass a rigorous interview process, with multiple interviewers? Just some things to think about.

I would try again. It might help if made an appointment to talk to the nursing dean or assistant dean about why your application was not successful and ask what you could do to improve your candidacy if you applied in the future. They will tell you. But if you already know that you did not do well on the entrance test then I would say that that is very probably the reason.

I would look into other nursing schools as well, including community colleges. Even if you have to travel some distance to get to classes, definitely look into other possibilities. Don't give up.

I'm going to retake the exam. I'm already looking at other schools and taking their entrance exam. Each school has different requirements so I might have to take some additional courses and even retake some as they don't transfer.

I was told I just need to retake my Kaplan. Otherwise, I was pretty competive. I think I overreacted just a bit. I was also notified I'm on a waiting list.

And a 4.0 GPA was for both cumulative and Prerequisites. It was the most competive year in the history of this nursing program. I can't feel sorry for myself. A lot of students who applied were outstanding. I'll retake the Kaplan and I should be just okay.

I used to have an EMT license. That's as far as my Healthcare experience goes.

I also felt great about my interview and was told that the main problem was the test score

It sounds like you are getting a handle on it. If they will allow you to retake the test, that's great. Try other schools too so your eggs aren't all in one basket. Good luck to you, let us know how it goes.

Also I'm going to ask what state you are in? Is it CA? It's one of the most difficult states to get into a program and then find a job afterwards.

good luck and write an outstanding essay. That's your resume and ticket to interview. ok and you need good test scores too ...and apply to several schools.
