I failed the NET...................................

I can't believe it, I actually failed the math section on the NET. I am terrible at math so I really don't know why I am the least bit surprised.

Anyway, I only failed it by 2% so the school has offered to let me re-test in math. I really hope that I can pass it this time.(it will be a written test this time)

I did great on all of the other areas, and did pass some of the math sections but I scored just a bit too low on fractions, number conversions and algebra.

I have to call on Tues to set up an appt. I plan on April 6th. I don't really want to wait that long but I do want time to learn that darn math.

By the way, what school are you going for, I'm going for sentara. I passed the entrance exam for MCI.

what study guide other than kaplan do you have? did you buy the one at eri world? i have this one and am hoping that the math is really similar. what were the hardest math problems on the test? i am sure that with some help you will do fine on the retest! good luck!

the eri world one is the one i used to study. the questions are exactly like the test. use that one and there will be no suprises.

:banghead: I know how you feel. I studied the math part of the TEAS really hard and I have already taken College Algebra so I thought I would do well, but I didn't. I scored really low on my math part and that brought my average way down. We can't fail the TEAS at our school, think goodness. They do look at the scores when admitting so will see how I did in May when they compare my scores with everyone elses.

I'm also trying to get into Sentara. Are you going for the LPN or the RN program?

I'm going for the LPN program because I still have a few pre-req's to complete before I can go into the RN program.

I took the NET at MCI also and they have offered me a spot in the next class there but with their cost being $19,000.00, even with finanical aide I do not think that I can afford to go there. I just can't afford to take out a personal loan to pay for it.

The prices there are insane.

What is the one at ERI like. Every guide that I have seen has been mostly word problems. The NET at MCI was almost all word problems but the one I took at Sentara had no word problems. The questions on it were just like this.

7 4/9 + 3/5 + 6/8 =

or

0.0125 + 5.8 =

I really was expecting word problems, not that it would have been any easier.

Those of you have have taken Sentaras NET-

How was the study guide the you had from Sentara set up compared to the one from ERI?

I'm sorry to hear that. :(

If you don't have the NET Study Guide, I recommend getting THAT book.

Study as much as you can from that, and any other quizzes that have problems that you need help on.

YOU CAN DO IT!!!! Don't give up, think positive, study your heart out, and get that NET passed and out of the way!!

Good luck!

Capribry, did they tell you that it would be a written test this time? That is what they told me. I didn't get to talk to the head of Admissions though. She is on Vacation and will not be back in her office until Tuesday. I have to call her to set up the Appt. to re-test. I plan on taking it either the 5th or the 6th if I can though.

Yes, that's the one you want! That's the one I let my friend in AP borrow. It has 4 practice tests (2 reading, 2 math), test taking strategies for the reading, and teaches you how to solve the math problems.
