I used to look through the RN job listings whenever I felt down about school! And remember, this too shall pass. The end is always in sight even if it's far away!

Hang in there. Good luck. I know the feeling well. Sometimes you just have to focus on the moment, putting one foot in front of the other and doing what you have to do for the day.

Keep involved with things in the nursing field, whatever that may be for you. Looking through the RN help wanted ads is a great idea, as is posting to the forums here. See about shadowing a nurse in a specialty you are interested in. There are many opportunities out there! I was completely burnt out a few months back and was offered a trip to the NSNA conference by my school - I jumped at the chance! Taking a "break" from school, work, and going to the conference with so many nursing students snapped me right out of it.

Once, I reached a point of total burn out and I took a two-day "vacation". I had a weekend where I did nothing nursing related and I just ran around and had fun with my family. I felt so refreshed afterward that I kicked butt on the next exam.

Yes, I have advice. I am the type of person that likes to RUN across the finish line even if I have nothing left in my body but the strength to tell me legs to keep moving. And so, last semester when I was taking an Exam or Quiz, or Exams and Quizzes back to back on a WEEKLY basis (both Micro and A&P II) I just kept reminding myself that I was not done yet and I need to keep on running until I have broken through the finish line.
It is all mental! Don't stop now you have not earned a break!

Just keep in mind the big picture. About a week ago, I was having panic attacks and scared that I was going to end up on meds for the rest of my life. Instead of that, I rested and spent time with my son. I quit my stressful job(now looking for something else). Everyone of us gets really stressed outto the point that we don't think we will make it through. WE WILL GET THROUGH ALL OF THIS. Go take a long, hot bubble bath, watch a movie, or get out of the house and go for a walk. I have found that exercising really helps when I am stressed out. Do something to refresh yourself. Keep in mind that all of the work will pay off in the long run. Good luck with everything.
Best wishes,

I got burnt out just doing my pre-reqs. I start my last pre-req in 2 days, Microbiology. I just keep telling myself that I'm almost there. The semesters go by so quick, that when I start my nursing courses in the fall, I will have only 4 semesters left. It doesn't seem so bad after that. It does get better. Good Luck!
