HRSA 2021-2022

I haven't seen anyone start a thread about applying for this year's HRSA scholarships. I am waiting to see if I am accepted into a school in IL (fingers crossed!) and then I am going to start my application process for HRSA. The program I am applying to is a 16 months ABSN that starts in august! what about you all?

Have you been accepted some where yet? Still in the application process? Already started the Scholarship application?

hi same here, I have not heard anything from them (no credit check, no email, no update). I also have an EFC of 0 and a GPA 4.0 at an ivy league nursing school for the PMHNP program. Similarly, I also joined several student orgs and local volunteering programs to serve patients from marginalized background (refugees, low SES) and interned at a state psych hospital for couple months while in undergrad. I just accepted an RN offer to work at a local detox facility that mainly serves homeless populations while there are other offers that pay much better. I know it can be very discouraging to hear nothing, and the financial support is definitely life-changing. However, no matter what the result is, my goal and passion to provide high quality care for the marginalized populations will not be changed, and there will be more opportunities in the future (loan repayment program) that can also be helpful. Remember, you're brilliant and will be a great nurse regardless of the result! ?

Thank you! I definitely needed the supportive words. Everything happens for a reason and even if we may not see it now- the reason will eventually appear. I still have my fingers crossed for us all and am not losing hope; however, in the end we’ll all be doing good in the world.

For those who are requiring a school seal - is anyone referring to the NHSC scholarship? I'm looking at the NHSC enrollment form we were given and nowhere does it mention a school seal, just a signature.

I am a finalist for both - the paperwork is different - no, the NHSC verification form doesn't need the seal.

Those of you who have returned paperwork to accept the award. . .did you already accept loans? My term bill is due august 20th and I'm torn - should I sign the MPN for federal loans and then deal with reimbursement later? I started to and then stopped right before hitting submit - I did email HRSA but who knows when I'll get my answer. How long does the next step in the process of being awarded take? Whenever I call it seems the people on the other line have only the same information I have in the handbook, which isn't complete. Anyone in the same boat? ?

Yes you should because regardless if you get the finalist email today or later, there are more steps in the process after submitting documents . So your tuition wouldn’t be paid in time anyways

Hey! I’ve been lurking this thread for a couple months! Congrats to everyone who got an email! When I saw that everyone started receiving emails I checked Experian and found that HRSA checked my credit on Friday August 6. I still have not received an email though so I’m a little worried. Does anyone know if they will email to notify that we didn’t get the award? I’m so anxious waiting to hear something.

Yes, they will send emails if you don’t get it. Those are last to go out and usually towards the end of September.

Just out of curiosity, has anyone who received a finalist email know when a signature from the secretary occurs or did anyone get it yet ? Is it it 2 weeks after or a month later ? I saw on last year board some didn’t get it until 2 days or a week before rewards went out !

Please let us know what they say if you do call!

They send out notifications up until September 30th.
