HRSA Nursing Scholarship Program 2014-2015

Does anyone know when the 2014 application will be posted (and when it's due)?

People who have been accepted to this scholarship, do you have any tips? What does the application entail?

THANKS!

Can I add a question?

Can you receive this scholarship with a "provisional acceptance"? Like when you need to complete a prereq first? I called and asked and the lady didn't seem to confident in her response.

You would need a letter stating you have been accepted into a nursing program. As long as it states you were offered a seat in a nursing program that is good enough to apply regardless of outstanding courses needed. If you are selected for the scholarship, you would then need to submit prove of enrollment in the nursing program which normally is requested around June/July. Hope this helps.

I signed up on the website to receive an email alert when the application becomes available. Do you all have experience with underserved populations? I'm trying to get some now.

The application should be opening up in the next few weeks or so and I believe it is due around April. They choose the scholarship recipients based on their resume, letters of recommendations, volunteer work, college GPA, EFC, and three essays. I would focus on writing outstanding essays, submitting good letters of recommendations and having a low EFC should give you a great shot at getting it. If you go on YouTube and search hrsa scholarship, there are webinars available for your viewing so you could know what to expect with the application process. It is pretty lengthy. Good luck.

They've said that it won't be open until some time in March. I called the hotline today!

The application is now open and it is dues May 22, 2014 at 7pm!

Does anyone know a break down of who is actually getting the scholarship? It seems largely need-based. I'm in the "too rich for financial aid but too poor for college" category and would like to know if I actually have a chance.

@Mustlovemia...on their website, they have a packet that explains who is eligible to get their scholarship and a webinar. From what I have seen from past trends is that having a low EFC score is something they are looking at.

I applied while I was in nursing school and now reapplying for my FNP. You have to have an EFC of 0. At least you did back then. Then they look at what type of school you are in. I know last year they gave half awards to Master's students. Hope this helps.

Hey missrnbsn2u,

Do you have to actually merge all the files into one single page? Or as long as they are all pdf format for each category?

I upload them individually. When i applied previously everything was mailed in.

Oh okay, I am kind of confused it says if we upload them in several pages it will overwrite the rest of the pages and it will automatically disqualify you.
