is $27/hr in NYC ER really a normal pay?

I was imagining that perhaps NYC pay would be good, but $27/hr plus housing seems a bit low, no? How do I find out what is good pay for an area? Thanks!

I am new to travel but have done A LOT of research since I decided that I want to explore the world of travel nursing and that seems VERY low.... Given RN's in NY make 70,000+ (non-travel) and and I am in the SE and RN's with @ least a year of experience are making close to that give or take $2.... Just my 2 cents!!! Good luck :)

I don't know travel nursing. But $27 with housing paid sounds good to me. Apartments in NYC are well over $2,000 for a dump. I will be making less than 27 at my new job here in California and no one is going to pay my mortgage...

You are getting paid less because the housing is so expensive. So that sounds about right. A decent 1 bedroom NYC apt in doorman building goes for about $2500 or more. I was making almost $45 an hour as a staff ER nurse in NYC. But I didn't get free housing so it kinda evens out.

thanks all. I really appreciate the responses!

I have never traveled to NYC

I keep seeing open orders in Manhattan & Bronx for over 40.00/hr

The tax-free compensation needs to be really big for 27.00.

Just my 0.02
