How's this for backwards

Im trying to transfer within my organization that I have been with for over 10 years. They ask on the applications to list your previous jobs, which I did.

My applications seem to be going straight to the circular file. I'm guessing because if they add up all the years I've worked it shows my age.

Many of the jobs also say new grad ONLY. Hard to believe, but that might be another reason why my apps go straight to the circular file. That seems so backwards.

Getting desperate to transfer, but so afraid it won't happen .

Guess if you are a new grad, you need to come up north;you have a better chance of getting a job than I do :(

ETA sorry , meant this to go to the general nursing forum.

What is happening to you is what scares me. It's one of the biggest reasons I won't move out of my position. Too bad you cannot prove they are discriminating against you.

Yeah, that is backwards. I heard from a hospital training educator that the new way of hiring nurses is to hire them into a specialty as a new grad. This way, they can train them the way that they want them to do things and not have to get them to lose the bad habits that they would have picked up working elsewhere (Years ago one would start out on the med/surg floor and advance after proving oneself). Times have changed.
