Hey, me too! Everyone taking it here is already accepted into the nursing program, they just use it to see what your strong/weak areas are, so you know what you might need extra help on.

the net was totally passable, but the reading portion is a little tough. here is a great website for net practice. i recommend this site instead of spending money buying the net guide because it is so much better.

this site has practice questions just like you will find on the actual test. the reading portion, like i said, is a little tough. it is a science reading comprehension. reading is my best subject, so i was shocked at my score, and i passed with no problem! the math is very easy, very simple elementary math from addition to basic algebra. good luck to both of you~

Thanks for the great website!

I took the NET in March and scored in the 99 percentile. I was shocked! I knew I did well but didn't realize that well. I was really nervous about it but it was much easier than I expected, to be honest.

I thought the reading comprehension was easy, though other posters said they felt it was difficult. I guess this shows how subjective things can be. I did struggle a smidgen with the math but only on the percentage questions. There seemed to be quite a few, to be honest. You get 60 minutes to answer 60 questions and I took about 59 minutes and some seconds to get it all done! Be sure to review fractions and percentages. How to find a percentage (easy), how to convert a percentage to a fraction and vise versa (decimals too!), also how to figure out percent of a percent.

The stress questions and the study style questions were easy too. Just be sure to answer honestly and not try to figure what they want you to answer.

I am sure you will be fine and good luck!!!

I took the NET test a few months ago and didn't pick up a book to study for it and scored in the 90th percentile. If I would have studied a bit (especially reviewed my math), I would have done far better.

It really isn't that hard. Just make sure you can do your math and make sure you can read a paragraph and understand the main idea of what the other is trying to get across.

Don't stress though -- its not that bad.

Thanks for the link! I'm taking the NET next month. In my case, it is required as part of the application process and my scores will be part of what determines if I am accepted or not. I want to make sure I practice so I will do well and hopefully be accepted! :)

From what I've heard, it isn't terrible. Most I've talked to have said to make sure you read thoroughly, review percentages, and try not to stress about it.

Good luck to you!

Hey all,

You are all welcome for the site! I too think it is great!!

Listen to what everyone is telling you- it isn't bad at all.The best thing to do is go in relaxed. I know that sometimes that is hard to do, but that is the key point on this test, since it is timed like it is. I too had a lot of percentages on my test! Between that and the science questions that I knew nothing about!!! But at least I did well on them, even though they weren't used against us! It made me feel good since I had taken both A&P's and Micro!! :lol2:

Good luck to you that need to take it! Just relaxxxx!!!!

if you study/memorize the math in the net study guide -- and know how to convert from percentage to decimals to fractions, backwards and forwards -- you will do well on the math. now, the reading comprehension is another thing. you *can* study for the reading section via the guide, but it still can be tricky. if you feel that you are a slow reader of dense, science-type material, i would suggest doing a little more work trying to increase your speed of reading/comprehending difficult material. work on main idea, inferences, and predicting outcomes based on the passage or article. the fact that it is timed is the most difficult part - it adds to the stress. less than a minute to answer each question on the reading section. the school i am applying to does not even look at the math section, only the reading score. i have a high gpa, but the reading section still knocked me for a loop. good luck to you!!!

I do well in math and reading and even I had trouble with the reading sections because I was reading into what they were asking way too much. Remember that your first thought on something is usually the right one and you should be fine. I scored well but only because I calmed myself down enough to NOT over analyze. I found the hardest questions to answer were the self review quiestions about stress and learning since appearantly am a "frusterated" learner because I learn well using more than one method of studying :)....way too many of these questions! Just remember to not stress about the parts that have no bearing on your actual scores and that you either know it or you don't no matter how many times you read the passage.

I'm sure I'll do fine on the math section but I am pretty nervous about the reading section because I am not a fast reader.

How long are the paragraphs that you have to read? Most of you are saying that you have a minute to per question so does that mean you have minute to read the paragraph and then answer the question?

Thanks for all of the input!!!!
