How long does it take for an application to be reviewed?

Published

Hi everyone,

I've so far applied for about 7 positions in four different hospitals and it's been 2 1/2 weeks so far without any notice if they've refused my application or if they've reviewed it. I logged on to my account to see my application status and so far it says no change. I have a feeling that I won't be getting any, even 1, offer/job. About how long does it take for a hospital to look at the applications and will I be notified if they've denied my application? Or should I call the HR and ask them?

Thanks

For me it took about a month to just hear back. By the time I started working the total time I waited was 2 months

Every hospital and every HR department is different. I wouldn't expect to be notified if they don't intend to interview you.

The hospitals near me take about 2 weeks. After one week you should call the HR department, they can tell you how long their process takes. If you filled your applications out online, you will get notifications via email, usually only when your application was denied. They say it nicely though. We have found other applicants that better meet our needs kind of thing. Good luck. It depends how big the hospital is and how many people they have working their HR department.

I filled out my application out, I heard back a week later. She then said she needed to call me back. After that whole week went by I called her back and she was like I'm interested lets set up an interview. This was on a Friday, she set up the interview for Wed at 9am. Went for the recruiter interview the following Wed, she called me 5 minutes after I left and set up the interview with the unit manager for the following day at 9am (thursday). Then after that interview with the unit manager for the infants and children's unit the recruiter called back 2 hours later to offer me the position part time nights 7p-7:30a 2 nights a week. $16.50 an hour (doesn't include evening, night, weekend, holiday differentials). My case was very fast, but normally the process there takes 3 months from interviews to hiring to starting. My orientation date is set for June 17th and 18th (hospital orientation) 19th-21st PCT orientation. I'm so excited. I will also be starting the ADN program this fall.

It was 2 months before I heard back for my position. Hang in there.

Thank you all!

Congrats MommaTY! That sounds amazing and wow, yours took only a short time for the interview and hiring process!

Since it's been 2 1/2 weeks already, I think I'll call the HR and ask them.

Thank you, and yes call, show them you are interested :)

For the current job I have now, it took them two months to call me. In my experience, patient care tech positions are extremely competitive, especially in areas where there are a lot of nursing schools. Hang in there, and keep applying. I probably submitted over 50 applications when I was job searching, and that's just an estimation.
