Is there anyway to find out program averages for acceptance? It seems like everyone I see on these boards has an idea of what they need to be competitive, but I have no idea. I know what the base requirements for application are, but emails to nursing instructors go unanswered. I have absolutely no idea where I stand and it is giving me a lot of anxiety. My pre-req and overall GPA are 4.0, and I took the TEAS as a practice test last month and got 87% (plan to retake in the spring).

Some programs post this information on their websites or give this information out at pre-nursing informational meetings. This was not the case for the programs I applied for. I found pre-nursing and nursing students at the school I attend are very open with their 'nursing application profile'. I never asked directly for the information from other students either. I'm a nice person and people like to reveal things to me (even complete strangers). So it was kind of a jigsaw puzzle; piecing together little bits of information over the course of my pre-reqs to form a hazy picture of people accepted/rejected to my first choice program.
I never got a direct answer from advisors or nursing instructors about the profile of previous cohorts. I think they want to keep it a mystery so that the students themselves make it more competitive.

I emailed admissions to get an idea of what to expect.
I didn't even think to email admissions, I will try that. I will also see if anyone knows any current nursing students!

My program has their stats online. You might want to search for "admission profiles".
I haven't been able to find anything on the college website except their basic requirements for application "62 on TEAS, 2.8 GPA" etc.

I'm sure this varies greatly from year to year, which is why it might be hard to find an "average" nursing student.
For example, the ABSN I am shooting for requires a 3.0 minimum in all pre reqs and undergraduate coursework. However, it is one of the only accelerated in state schools in the area and competition is FIERCE. There are a lot of higher GPA folks (and you get the interview PURELY off grades. There are no essays or CV's submitted with your application) that apply. My friend told me they almost quite literally go down the list and take the top chunk of GPA's. The advisor told me the average pre req GPA hovers around a 3.7. Some years this may go up or down.
Best bet is to ask. If you can't find the info, crank out those A's and hope for the best like the rest of us do :)
