How close is Kaplan to NCLEX?

Published

I took the Kaplan and have been working diligently on their trainers and Qbank. Have scored anywhere from 64% to 78%. I was wondering from those who have also taken the Kaplan how close of a representation is it of the NCLEX?

I find that the Kaplan repeatedly drills me on similar questions, and pulls out meds that I have never even heard of. Is the Kaplan leading me in the right direction? Or, is it giving me a false sense of security?

I have also done some of the Saunders CD questions and find that they are much simpler, but also touch on topics that Kaplan doesn't. Which one is a better representation of the actual NCLEX?

As always, thanks for your help.

Well I can say that I took Kaplan, what I mean is that I paid like 400$ for the whole packet, the class, the review online, etc. What I did, I have literally went to all the classes, did their strategy review online, I did very many questions from the Q-Bank and some Question trainers that they have online as well. Honestly, I scored very low on Q-Bank, and I got 47% on Question trainer#1, 60% on Question trainer#2, 48% on Question trainer#3, 53% on Question trainer#4, 63% on Question trainer#5, 55% on Question trainer#6 and the last one I got was 67% on Question trainer#7. They say that if you get 65% and above on the 7th you're ready to take the NCLEX-RN. They also have 95% average per country so that is promising too. I got in, after 2 hours I got out and passed with 75 questions. Couldn't believe it, but my experience was pretty short with NCLEX-RN test. Read all the rationales, try to understand them! That is the key, understanding the patho and how it works, that way you can succeed for sure because the manifestation of conditions/diseases will just pop out in your mind and you'll be set. But above and beyond that PRAY a lot! I prayed like crazy during the test, but still focused on the questions, relax. I pray on a daily basis and my husband does too - he graduated with Summa Cum Laude, and so forth. Don't underestimate the power of prayer! Blessings.
