HESI...fun

Hi all,

After I finish this up coming course I will be taking the HESI exam. What is everyone's thought on the exam? What is the best way to study for it? I bought the HESI review book (the spiral bound one) but have yet to find any other ones. I am wondering if any other nursing NCLEX review books would be suited to helping me study for this test. It will cover med surg and ICU, as well as the very beginning "theory" courses that are covered in nursing school. Thanks for your help....

I'm in my last semester of LPN school and this is the first time we've heard of the Hesi test. The second semester has to take it too but we didn't in our 2nd. This is the first time our school is having us take this exam and I am wondering is this something new to everyone??? What exactly is the test for? Someone told us that if we passed Medsurg but not the Hesi we couldn't graduate??? Is this true? :uhoh3:

Hi, it depends on your school if that requirement is true, you should check on that because every school that uses HESI use it in different ways. My school implemented HESI in 2001. We need to pass with 900 in order to graduate. So no matter how well you did in the program w/o that 900 we could not get our degree. Oh, we got 4 chances to pass.

Our you taking a comprehensive HESI exam? If so, you need to read the

HESI book you have. Focus on MEd-Surg, Adv Clinical Concepts, OB, Psych

and know the HESI hints. Med-Surg & Adv Clinical is huge on HESI the harder the question the more points you will get for it.

Do as many practice exam questions as you can trying to get a good score like 83% on each and try not to use too many review books.

I recommend Saunders Comprehensive Review for NCLEX.
