Herzing College??

Published

Wow! I just called Herzing and I was told that info is not given over the phone. I would have to go to Alabama for a nursing meeting. But I was told that there are no pre reqs required. They are all included in the program and it's a 12 month program. All I wanted to know was info on the cost, when are apps. accepted, when do classes begin... you know typical questions. If anyone knows any information please let me know. Although I live in Atlanta I may consider commuting it's only 2 hrs from my house. I just don't want to have to wait another year before I get into any other program.

hello i understand you but for the cost it cost to go to herzing you will be better off going to a community college because it cost around 15,000 for the lpn program and there are no preg, but you do how to take a placement test which is mostly reading and math the test is 30.00 and it is timed also they only accept 30 students each term there is fall and spring nursing program not sure about the summer but i know there is fall and spring but to me you are better off going to a community college you can take the classes reg with the program but it will be harder and herzing is on quarters instead of semesters

I understand that but I'm already an LPN I wanted to do the mobility LPN to RN program. I didn't want to have to wait until 2011 to enter into a nursing program. It will be 2012 before I graduate. That's the only thing I was trying to avoid.

the cost is 23,000 and they will be a next class in jan. i am getting in for sep8 this year

Is there any financial aid accepted or is it considered a private school?

I'm currently an LPN student at Herzing. They DO accept financial aid (FAFSA)...I understand some people saying you should just wait and do the CC route - I know that it is cheaper, but if you have to wait for another year to get in, you could be finished by then! The classes are year round - each semester is broken up into two terms, Term A & Term B, each of which is 8 weeks. It is an advanced program - you are taking classes in 1/2 the "normal" time (8 weeks instead of 16).

Taken from Herzing's website:

The Associate of Science Degree in Nursing Program prepares students to take the National Council Licensing Examination for Registered Nurses (NCLEX) and to begin a nursing career. Theoretical instruction is complimented with clinical experience in a variety of health care settings in order to provide a broad, holistic, and reality-based understanding of the roles and responsibilities of a professional nurse. Students will participate in planned clinical and laboratory experiences that will complement classroom learning and will stress health prevention and promotion as well as disease processes.

Students must have an active and unrestricted Alabama LPN license to be enrolled in the program.

Total Credits: 48

You can find the LPN to RN mobility information in this catalog:

Let me know if you need further info

I was told at Akron Institute-OF Herzing University that I have to go to the nursing program for 20 months or are you going from LPN to RN that might be the difference? I have to do 20 months with no previous nursing degree.

They take FASFA and I know I have to take the TEAS To get in and it has to be a score to be in the top 30 so i can be in the c lass. im applying for the jan 2010 classes.

IDK they are expensive but idk.....

Yes I'm currently a LPN and I want to do the mobility LPN to RN program. I know they are expensive though..

Thank you so much for this information it is greatly appreciated..

For the LPN program - 3 semesters (1 year).....for the LPN to RN Mobility program 3 semesters (1 year) (both of those with no pre-requisites completed prior to enrolling).

Wow that sounds wonderful, it seems that I could jump right in and get started & still have less classes due to the fact that I have all pre reqs that are required at any other school. But the one thing that is putting a hold on me would be the price tag..

Yep - it is expensive. I chose this route though, since I would be through and employed (HOPEFULLY, but that is another subject altogether) by the time I would maybe start at the local community colleges. For me to go the CC route, I would have to take A&P I & II, Microbiology, Speech, English 102 & College Algebra....all for the LPN program! Herzing accepted ALL of my transfer credits and doesn't require A&P II, Micro, Speech, English 102 or College Algebra for their LPN program. A&P I was taken along with Patient Assessment and Math for Nursing my first term (first 1/2 of first semester). A&P II, Micro & Algebra will be required for the LPN to RN mobility program, but included in the courses, not before. This was the fastest route for me, and I really wasn't willing to wait an additional year to start school when I could be gainfully employed. I'm happy with my choice, but realize it isn't the choice for everyone. If I was in my 20's again I might have done it differently, but I'm over 40.
