help

I am into my 3rd test at Excelsior....and I am just not getting it. I accidently read someones cpne journal, and it scared the junk outta me. I didn't want to read ahead, and scare myself.....and that is just what I did. I have been averaging B's and C's but feel like I don't have a good grip on this stuff.

Can anyone tell me if the workshops (I guess that is for the cpne) help? Are there workshops I could take before I get to that point?

I do not work at a hospital as of this date. I want a job as a pct, and hopefully I will land one before this is over. I am averaging about a test a month. Is this a good schedule? I really need to finish this quicker, but I don't think I can....

Need some encouragement....

If you feel like you're not getting the material, it might be best to focus on learning it, vs. how fast you can get through the exams. Quality, not quantity. :) Go back and review the areas where you're shaky.

Yes, there are CPNE workshops, and there is a 500+ page study guide from EC. By the time you'd get to your CPNE, you'll have studied your brains out. One step at a time!

If you still feel like you're not getting it, you might want to look at traditional schools -- distance learning isn't for everyone, and there is no shame in that whatsoever. Good luck!!

After passing all my pre reques, and starting my 3rd nursing test, I dont think that pulling out now and getting on the 2 year waiting list at my community college would be an option. But thanks...

I understand, but I also felt like I'd be remiss in my reply if I didn't throw it out there as an alternative. If you're not getting the material, that's a definite concern for overall success in the program. What kind of materials are you using for study?

the study guide, the practice exams, lisa's notes and sg101 just came.....

I get enough to pass, just was wondering if there was a nursing process workshop, or an assessment/drug calculation workshop. something like that...

I just shouldn't have read ahead.

LOL ... no worries, I did the same thing; I'm a planner, I like to know what I'm facing! I think I was nearly incontinent the first time I read a CPNE journal. ;) There are resources (both from EC and outside entities) to help students with all parts of the CPNE, to include care planning, med calculations, etc.

Be concerned with the CPNE when you can devote your full attention to it, after your exams are done. One step at a time, don't overwhelm yourself.
