Im really getting nervous now as itll be my first D grade job, and was wondering if anyone could tell me of any useful hints for my first few days? Im really worried Im gonna just put my foot in it and get off to a bad start, so any advice really would be great, Thank u!

First of all.......relax! :) Easy said, I know. But you're feelings are quite normal, you don't know what's expected of you and that's the scary part....not knowing. However, you should have a period of preceptorship and shouldn't be thrown in at the deep end until you feel comfortable and confident. Have you discussed with your employer about preceptorship? If you have a good mentor and build up a good working relationship with her/him, that's half the battle. You're new, you're nervous, and you think you'll be expected to know it all....right?......wrong Believe me, I've been qualified more years than I care to count and I'm still learning new skills even now. I'm sure everyone on here will tell you the same.....the real learning is only just beginning. Try not to expect too much of yourself, and enjoy! Good luck :)

Letina has given you some really sound advice! Chill, enjoy and ask questions, and ask questions and when you think you have driven your colleagues nuts, ask more questions - and congratulations on your new job!

congrats on the new job, good advice already given. Relax and try and enjoy you first few days and give yourself time to absorb everything which goes off. Don't do anything that you feel unsure about and ask ask and ask again

Congrats and good luck. Like every place you work as a new person-find your feet. Orientated yourself to layout of emergency equip. and find all the things common you may be asked for,the location of in the treatment room-ie equipment for emergency cath, O2 tubing, yankeur sucker.
I know on my ward this would stress out a newby so if your prepared then it will be easier for you.
