Help with registering for classes

Published

My school has priority registration based on your sSN#. This semester I was 3rd out of 4 days, so Anatomy was full. I found a spot in Microbiolgy though. Is it OK taking Micro b4 Anatomy & physiology? I am taking Bio right now, so at least the basics will be fresh in my mind.

Typically the progression at my school goes Bio to Anatomy to physiology to microbiology. I don't seen any reason why I have to take in that order though do you? The only pre-req is Bio. So that is covered.

Thanks for the help!!!

You will do fine! You don't need one before the other.

Well A&P is great to take before Micro, and after bio, because some points expand from Biology, and set you up for Micro. I'm finishing out A&P I this semester, and taking A&P II along with Micro next semseter. The preq for Micro here is A&P I, because it really does help according to what I have heard from others. But it is up to you, to decide. I wouldn't dream of taking Micro without having some basis or foundation about the human body. You learn a lot of important things in first semester that just builds on top of one another in each chapter. Yet, in your case, since its not avaliable you make just have to make it do what it do! Good luck.;)

you will do fine, I see no reason to take one before the other, either Micro will help you with AP or AP will help with micro. I took micro and AP2 together, there was a bit of overlap with immunity, but really that was it. Cell structure and Chemistry you learned in Bio I assume so that will help you out immensly!

have fun Micro was my FAVORITE!! class.

Thanks. I am hoping it isn't as bad as I am anticipating. Cellular respiration and glycolysis was really hard for me to grasp. Since microbiology works a lot on the cellular level, I hope it isn't all difficult for me to grasp. I should end up with an A in BIO this semester though and I am hoping having it there fresh on my mind will help out a bit.

You know what will happen, is you will have this stuff several times, it will be touched on in, micro and AP you just finished it in Bio, and you will see you get a little more info each time and soon it will become very familiar to you! I had a hard time with DNA RNA replication process, by the time I got to micro I had had it 4 times LOL, it finally started to sink in!

DNA/RNA really kicked my butt! Every class I've had it in has been confusing. It's like I'm trying to read a foreign language.

Micro made the immune system much easier to understand than ANP did. Of course, that could be d/t the instructors I had! I'm almost done with Micro and so far no mention of glycolysis or cellular respiration, whew.

ya dna is a tough one, I have some great tutorials I used, they really helped and our instructor was fabulous in micro.

we did glycolysis and Kreb cycle in Micro, this has actually help me understand things that will be important in nursing like acid base balances. It's interesting to see how everything ties in and is coming together now.

I agree with everyone else. I think you will be fine taking micro before A&P.

You'll do fine, best wishes!!
