Dec 18, 200916 yr Are you prepared for questions that may be asked? Did they ask you specific questions on your last interview? I don't know what type of questions could be asked pertaining to OR but be ready.
Dec 18, 200916 yr Author I have prepared some questions which i have seen in this forums.I have no ideas apart from that, because this is my second interview.Once again thank you for your valuable advice.
Dec 18, 200916 yr Author Can you tell me regarding Thank you note after interview? How can i get email adress?
Dec 18, 200916 yr "I can just imagine how challenging it must be to adhere to our rules when writing in the English language. You will do good."Wouldn't it be "you will do well"? ...just sayin...And OP, I agree--it's all about confidence!
Dec 18, 200916 yr Exude confidence. Portray that you can..Take time to think but don't take too much time. Be personable as much as you can but don't go trying to be all buddy-buddy on the first day. Look the interviewer in the eye, as much as you can.Pray about it.I'll be rooting for you.
Dec 18, 200916 yr Hi,I'm thinking back to questions I was asked for my interview quite a few years ago:Of course you get the always popular - How do you handle conflict? Describe effective communication? etc...But questions specific to the O.R. are a little different- They like to give you scenarios to see how you would handle them, for example, I was asked: - How have you advocated for a patient? - The Dr. begins a laparoscope for lysis of adhesions and discovers dead bowel-what should you do? The answer they're looking for is -Open the laparotomy set, because this procedure will not be able to be a laparoscopic one. - You hear two Dr.'s discussing a different patient while the patient in the theatre is being anesthetised, but not yet asleep- what do you do? The answer is to remind the Dr.'s that the patient is still awake and to be quiet. - You go to pick up the next patient and find a family member on the floor. You don't know what happened- what do you do? The answer is to treat it like any other emergency call for help and ABC - They always ask if you have any preexisting injuries that would limit you, because the instrument pans are quite heavy and they want to make sure you can handle the job.I hope this helps, be confident-if this is your dream job, tell them! Good luck!
