Dec 17, 200916 yr It's a hard market right now, you need to put forth EVERY thing you can to put yourself above any other applicant - especially if its your dream job.I think one of the most important things is to know the position and your future employer inside and out. When they ask questions, you'll know their policies and how to better tailor your answers to them.Second of course is appearance! Suits are best, but at least slacks and a blouse. Tame jewelry, light makeup, no fragrance (keep in mind you will be a nurse for them). Think of one or two questions to ask the interviewer about the position or facility. (IE, what is your nurse/patient ratio? How is scheduling done? What is your holiday policy? What does your orientation involve?)Bring extra copies of your resume, references, and if you were recently in school, your grades. Something I can never stress enough from the days I did interviews (in food management, not nursing, but regardless), is to answer the questions directly. Don't avoid the question or talk in circles. They notice when you skirt questions.Be confident but not cocky. Confidence is key. Make it clear you're interested in THIS job, not just any job, and show you believe you have what it takes. You'll do great!
Dec 18, 200916 yr What ?? Doesn't make sense what I read, maybe it's just me. Anybody else understand? For the poster, you need to read that to yourself aloud and see if you find what's wrong with the wording. Are you saying physical? And that you may look to thin/skinny to get hired for work ??
Dec 18, 200916 yr i think they meant physique. does getting a job have anything to do with your physique.
Dec 18, 200916 yr I really don't think anybody will hold it against you because you are thin, but they will judge you on the way you write. You need to always proof read what you write and read it aloud to yourself to make sure it makes sense in our English language. Managers frown on such poor writing skills, so I would think you need to make improvements in this area. I understand you are not from this country, but please try to be careful how you write. And please always double check spelling, carry a dictionary with you.Good luck with your interview.
Dec 18, 200916 yr i think they meant physique. does getting a job have anything to do with your physique. The only time you have to worry about that is if you don't meet some lifting requirements they may have posted. I don't know why, but one job I looked at once posted you had to be able to lift a minimum of 100 pounds. I don't know many people who can dead lift that much! But no, your physique shouldn't matter, especially if you are thin but healthy.
Dec 18, 200916 yr :cry::cry:I'm sorry, don't be sad. Just trying to provide you with constructive criticism.I can just imagine how challenging it must be to adhere to our rules when writing in the English language. You will do good.
Dec 18, 200916 yr You can also post what you plan on writing, either on resume or application, here on this forum and I'm sure other's, as well as I, will be more than willing to give you pointers on the writing process in the English language. I'm sure when people interview you too, surely they have in mind that this is not your first language. Just try and work at it best you can.
Dec 18, 200916 yr You'll do okay, just try and remain positive. I bet you'll do great! Here are some pointers for education purposes. Examples for the word 'loose' in a sentence. Should have said in your above post......, "I don't want to lose this chance."lose - Means to come to be without. Ex. I have lost something. I will lose this tooth if I don't get it fixed.loose - Means not attached. ex. I have a loose tooth.
