I don't quite understand your question, are you asking if it's possible to work both jobs at once??? I will say that my mom maintained her RN license while also being a teacher for 30 years, but she didn't practice during that time, her only job was teaching.

Yes that's what I was asking.. Can you work at both field at once

I've never heard of that. I don't think there are any rules that preclude someone from doing both jobs at once but I imagine the work schedules would render it practically impossible.

You could work as a teacher and then during the summer you can work as a nurse.

Yes, you can. We have a nurse at my hospital that works as an elementary school teacher on weekdays and as an RN every Saturday, through the summer, and on school breaks. She takes time off when she needs to but works a lot when she's not at school.

I had no idea you could do something like that as an RN, working weekends and summers! That's really cool.

This is possible, but you're going to have to pick one to work as primarily and one to work as as a side job. Teaching is a very different schedule than working as a nurse. Unless you want to substitute teach, you'd be looking at a day time job through the week for most of the year, and then picking up nursing shifts every now and again.

Keep in mind that when you're a new nurse it takes some time to become proficient, and if you're only working PRN it is going to take you much longer to get your nursing skills sharpened. Most people find that they need a year working full time to feel more comfortable working as a nurse. You could also work as a teacher during the school year and work as a nurse during the summer, but again, you're running into the problem of going lengths of time without working much as a nurse and you may find that your skills become rusty.

I'm a certified teacher and going to school for nursing. I personally would not recommend doing both. I spent hours of my time off preparing lessons for my students. Summers I taught summer school and again spent hours preparing lessons. Teaching is a lot of work. Then I started nursing school. Nursing is a lot of work. The only thing is I don't have to bring my work home and prepare tons of things for the next day, but it is physically more demanding that my teaching jobs. Both fields are great. I just don't think it would be a great idea to try and work both at the same time.

I'm also a teacher who is going to school to be a nurse. Teachers may need to only be present at school for 7.5 hours, but there is no decent teacher who can actually do everything they need to do within that time. Evenings and weekends are spent largely on paperwork (especially if you teach special ed, like me!), lesson preparation, and parent contact.

Both careers require a very heavy investment of emotion, time, energy, and physical effort. Theoretically it could be done, especially if you just nurse summers, but I don't know of anyone who actually COULD do it without burning out within a year.

Teach most of the year and you could be a camp nurse in the summer :)

That's exactly what I wanted to do works weekdays as a elementary school teacher and weekends as an RN I've been working more than one job my whole life I'm use to the life style but when I start a family than I wants to narrow it down
