Hi everyone,am starting my prerequisites this semester at my local community college.
My question is:
English is my seconds language and I have to take more English within my prerequists classes.i went to high school out of USA and just moved here few years ago . is't hard to become a nurse for people who speak English as a second language ???? Is passing eng 101 and 102 and CRE 101 will qualify me for college level English ? ?Is the RN's that English is their second language could answer my question please.
thanks

English is not my second language, but knowing a second language can be beneficial. There are always job offerings for multilingual nurses
Thanks

English is my second language. Filipino is my native tongue. I took English 101 & 102 as pre-requisites for my program. I have no problem at work. My charting is even better than some of my coworkers who only speak English.
Good luck to you!

I bet you can spell and use correct grammar better than a native English speakers. I speak 3 languages and English is not even my native language and yet English class was easy A of a class. Being multilingual is an advantage not a setback ever.
