Help me. please read

Hi. So I just took my first NCLEX RN last May 8 2014 and unfortunately, I didnt pass. My computer shut down at 75 qs. So im here, gonna start to review again. Well I dnt have enough money to purchase Kaplan qbank, hurst review or the ncsbn. So are there any books you guys used for review? I was enrolled at Excel Nursing review center last year at around July 2013. It was so long ago so I think it didnt really help me a lot.

Please help me for any alternatives I could use for my next retake exam. Its gonna be my second attempt and I dont want a third ;(

What I used before:

*La Charity

*Saunders Q&A 3rd edition

*Excel Review Center Handouts

*Purchased $20 questions from http://www.easynclex.com

*Kaplan NCLEX RN book 2010 edition

THANKS!!

NCSBN i think is like $40, also ypur public library might have old editions of review books, worth a try. If you have a smart phone, there are some inexpensive apps that have questions, you can look at those during your downtime.

I wish you the best of luck!

Wow really? Is it the 3 weeks review? I might try it. Thanks for the information..I wish I could pass it on ny 2nd try :(

i also used NCLEX 3500, if you google it you might find it for free on a certain university's website :)

I don't remember exactly which one it is, but some people like the wuestions and not the content, so you might want to review your content from another source.

Try not to feel too bad, this way, the material will be cemented in your mind and when you start working, you will have an easier time :)

Good Luck!

What does your NCLEX report say?

Finding out what was below passing is a good place to start.

How are you studying? Content only or Questions and Reviewing rationales, then reviewing content? That makes a difference as well in helping to adequately be prepared, as well as answer NCLEX questions.

The sources for the NCLEX I used for questions are:

NCSBN 3 week course ($ 50 dollars)

Exam CRAM

Saunders NCLEX flash cards

Lippincott Series

LaCharity PDA

Kaplan 2012 book (passed NCLEX June 2012)

Success Series

For content, I used Pharm Plash (from the Success Series) cards to review medications; NCLEX does ask about meds, even if they are obscure; I felt it helped me to review medications.

Remember, the four important aspects of NCLEX, which is to make one be prepared as a entry level safe beginner nurse:

1. Safe, effective care;

2. Health Promotion;

3. Physiological Integrity;

4. Psychosocial Integrity.

Knowing WHAT the question is asking you goes a long way than a "knowledge" question; AKA a content -based question; knowing whether a question about hypertension is Health Promotion or Physiological Integrity and choosing the best answer makes a difference.

Best wishes.

I reviewed all my notes and started answering q&a then read all rationales :(

How's the ncsbn review? Is it an online review or does it just allow you to answer questions?

THANKS FOR THE HELP. Much appreciated ;)

The NCSBN has modules for content review and questions; they also have a comprehensive practice exam as well.

I know of a few cohorts who used this as their only study source and passed the first time. The questions are similar to the NCLEX; the questions alone are worth it. :yes:

What is the NCLEX pass rate for your school? When you are answering the practice questions are you understanding why you are getting the questions wrong? You need to track what concept or information that you are getting wrong to develop a pattern of where your weaknesses are. NCLEX is a computer-adaptive test (CAT) which means if you get a question right, you get a higher level question. If you miss a question, it drops 2 levels and you need to work your way up with correct answers.
