I currently applied to a couple CRNA schools. So far have been turned down by two. Their reason for turning my application down was my GRE scores. (My score was pretty low and this is the second time I have taken it!) I have 6 years of expierence working in a MICU and SICU , I have my CCRN, great recomendations, My undergraduate GPA IS 3.95 should I retake the GRE for the third time or just hope the admissions commitee will see thru the standarized testing score ? Please help !!:sniff:

Most schools that require the GRE use it heavily in interview decision making. IF you figure there are 3-4 applicants for every seat, a lot of them will all have very similar experience. They have to use something to narrow down the list. GPA and GRE scores are 2 of the things they use.

I would reccomend that if you really want this you do whatever it takes to get it. I don't know your situation, but there are schools that don't require the GRE. You can consider those. Consider taking a GRE class. And, yes. I would retake it. They are not just gonna change their minds.

Thank you for replying, Do you think the Kaplan GRE class course is good?

I took the kaplan gre review course. While it is expensive, it was definately worth it for me. I haven't applied anywhere yet b/c my husband just graduated w/ his Master's and I'm waiting for him to start working. Anyway, they not only review problem solving, algebra and geometry, they teach you needed test taking techniques. I increased my verbal by 100+ points and math by 230 points. If you increase you gre scores to what the schools want, I'm sure you will be "shoe-in". Good luc!

You are going to have to get those GRE scores up. The director of my program said that while GRE scores do not predict how somebody will do in school - they do predict how somebody does on a standardized test. Since the CRNA board exam is a standardized test saying that you do poorly taking such tests in an interview in not a good idea. She said they did a study showing low GRE = low pass rates on boards. Obviously schools wants great board pass rates

if you dont mind my asking... what were your GRE scores?
