I am a Canadian and American Citizen but have not written my NCLEX. Is it possible to write it separately from the Canadian boards?? Would you have any sites that I could look at to help me figure out what i need to do to make this happen. I understand that I have to register in a state to write the exam before I have a job- do you know which states still allow you to do that?

All states will allow you to apply for a license. If you meet their requirements you will be allowed to write the NCLEX. You are aware that there are parts of the US that are more northerly than parts of Canada? Hmmm it was 20 degrees where I am today. Not that cold.

Check out the state you plan on living and working and see what their requirements are. If a US SSN is required and you do not have one as a USC I would get one first then apply to the state as some will not allow you to submit application without one
Thanks ! With 14 grandchildren living in the USA and none in Canada I am hoping to have more WARM months in the year than COLD ones! And maybe they will want to come and visit us (cheaper to travel and nicer weather to choose from). I am looking at the individual states and need to decide WHERE we want to relocate to so I don't waste my time and money.
