HI! I really need help! My nursing class is requiring for us to interview a nurse that we would like to become when we graduate. Unfortunately, I don't have any friends or family members that are ER/OB/Surgical nurses! Is anyone able to take their precious time to help me? I would be forever grateful! And just so you know, this isn't my whole paper. I have to write a paper base on the answers I get. So please don't think I'm pasting this so someone else can do the paper for me. I would really like to be an ER /Surgical/OB nurse someday!!! Thanks in advance for all of your help. Please don't feel obligated to answer all of the questions, but as much as you would like to will be greatly appreciated!

Thread moved to nursing student assistance forum as the request is for a nursing school assignment. Have you attempted to reach out to nurses in your community? Remember this is an anonymous public website read around the world. You have no way of knowing whether those that respond to you are in fact registered nurses or someone who is not. Try contacting the staff development or nursing adminstration office of your local hospital, birthing center or surgical center. You may be pleasantly surprised with the response received when you ask if they can refer you to a practicing nurse for a school project interview. Good luck.

Everyone will tell you no....not to be rude or unhelpful but because they want you to get a face to face interview...so go to a hospital or nursing home to talk to a nurse...good luck!!!!

I believe that the assignment to interview a nurse means to interview someone face to face. The interview process is a vital tool in the nursing process and it requires it to be face to face. This is an anonymous site, and while reliable, you still have no way of knowing of it really is a nurse you are speaking to.

There are many places to interview nurses. You can call you PCP office, local Dept of health, local schools, and some outpatient mini clinics like CVS....call a trauma flight company and set up a time to interview the staff or a local critical care transport company and ask to tallk to one of the nurses. You can also call a local urgent care and set up a time. Getting you to talk face to face with a complete stranger is the goal for this assignment.

The whole process of stepping out of your comfort zone to ask a complete stranger to talk about a personal issue and to trust you enough to give you that information....is the goal. The nursing interview is one of the most important skills a nurse must posses for in the admission interview process a nurse obtains valuable information that cannot other wise be obtained just by reading a patients body language during response. You need to become comfortable in talking with complete strangers....that is the purpose of the assignment. It is my personal belief that online interviews do not fulfill this process.

I wish you the best on your nursing journey.
