I am sorry to hear that. I see that you almost tried everything you could think of and seems like you are feeling like you are looking at the end of rope. I am sure that many people who are experienced could point you to the right direction. I shalt keep you in my thought.

I'm afraid if you've already failed the RPN/LVN exam twice, you won't be successful with either the CRNE or the NCLEX. Both exams cover far more material and at a more complex level. I'm confused that you have graduated with a BSN from a school in the Philippines, but have had such difficulty with the RPN exam. My impression is that the province you're in has assessed your education and found it doesn't meet their criteria, hence the need for three years of upgrading. I would take that assessment very seriously, but in the end, it's your career, your time and your money.

i'm going to let you in on a little secret. every day, once a day, give yourself a present. don't plan it. don't wait for it. just let it happen. it could be a new shirt at the men's store, a catnap in your office chair, or two cups of good, hot black coffee.

i'll probably going to leave us as soon as i graduate. i don't think there is enough time to get temp licenced, then find work in canada before i graduate. but thank you for the thought (and even if it wasn't meant for me.) i'll try and keep myself saine by doing those present thing daily and do it without planning or thinking about it. i still don't think that i could ever be a nurse again, but it would be unbearble to lose all hope.

I found out that canada require 1200hr work experience. the best i could do is 250hr so canada is out

Hi! I'm a newbie here and I've been reading posts here for some time already. But I don't know where exactly here will I post my questions so I'm gonna put it here under the same title..

First, I'll give you some background...

I'm a newly grad and I passed the June NLE. I'm in the process of completing the documents needed for my IL licensure application when my aunt who raised me and is in Canada right now called and said that she'll going to process my papers this November or December. I was surprised by that because I already told her about my plans which is to take the NCLEX, English exam and then start my VSC before applying for work here. She then gave me her plans. Agree to start the processing of my papers for Canada and apply for a job here while waiting and to gain some experience. When I get there, she would let me apply for RN licensure there and a temp permit so I can work while waiting for my test schedule. My Canadian citizenship will then be process after that then if I still want to go to the US, then she'll let me pursue it since it will be somehow easier for me since I'm a Canadian citizen by that time and can easily apply for work in the border. After hearing her plans for me, I think it's a good opportunity since there's a long wait for availability of visa. Now I'm confused on few things...

-I have read here that Visa is based on what country you were born, how come my aunt said that it will be easier to for me to apply for it? Am I under the NAFTA already since I am a canadian citizen?

-I know that you'll only need to write the NCLEX exam once. I have made another plan, to continue my application for US licensure now and agree with the plan of my aunt. But I'm worried that if ever I will pass the exam and be licensed, it will be a waste since it will be expired for a long time since I can't renew it because I don't have SSN and there's a possibility that my record will be deleted from the file of the state BON. Is it advisable to continue my application or wait till I get in Canada?

Hope you can enlighten me about my dilemma so I can look into my options & somehow decide about it. My best friend said that I'm just being selfish because I can't sacrifice any of the 2 that's why I'm having a hard time on deciding what option should I take.

Is your aunt works for the Canadian immigration?

Why dont you take one step at a time??? Do some research about canadian immigration and NCLEX..it seems you dont quite understand your situation right now...there are lots of thread that can help you figure out some of your "dilemma".

actually jan is correct. in canada, you can write the pn exam three times, if you fail on the third attempt, you need re-educating. it's not rocket science, it's basic nursing skills that are under consideration along with personal ethics and moral decisions.

i'm not sure i'd want someone who failed that often caring for me or my family.

to acquire canadian citizenship, you have to live in the country for three years. it's not something handed out at the border. there is an exam and there is usually a backlog of applications ahead of yours.

Another issue to consider is that once you are an LPN, or RPN here in Ontario, if you decide to bridge to the RN program, you must have passed the RPN exam on the first attempt.

I think janfrn is correct, it would be far better to spend the time and money going back to

upgrade, rather than to continue to write the exam. Many of the colleges and universities here in Ontario state that everyone passes the licence exam but from what I have heard this is not so. I know of both RPN's and RN's who did not pass the exam on the first attempt.
