Help with colostomies.....

Published

I need some help with colostomies. What are the major differences between a loop colostomy and an end colostomy? I understand that the end colostomy is lower and has one opening and that the loop ostomy is higher and has two openings. The end colostomy is permanent and the loop colostomy can be permanent or temporary. Have I got this mixed up? Also, what is the difference between the loop colostomy which has two openings and the double-barrel colostomy which has two openings? I just want to be sure I have it straight. Thanks.

I just googled and found this ACS website that goes into talking all about colostomies. I hope this helps!
