Jun 14, 201114 yr Do you seem to get HELLP patients in spurts? Seems like we have had a few lately. They freak me out.
Jun 14, 201114 yr Experts It seems we get lots of bad things - HELLP/DIC, term IUFDs, etc - in spurts. We won't see any for a couple months then we'll get 4-5 in a week. FWIW, I don't like pre-E or HELLP either. Those women will turn and crash on a dime, it seems.
Jun 14, 201114 yr Experts In critical care and the ED too.......bad things came in threes and clusters.....I like to blame it on the moon......Some of the bad stuff seemed to run with the seasons Like GI bleeds........http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/11422613

Jun 18, 201114 yr This is interesting. Do you find that bad things come in threes?? I don't like to think I'm all that superstitious, but we've had 2 abruptions and 2 newborns with pneumos.....I'm half expecting a third for each :uhoh21: ...
Jun 30, 201114 yr we feel the same way on our unit--that things happen in three's--as for not liking HELLP: as an OB nurse that had HELLP with my first pregnancy (IVF twin gestation) I can tell you it is as horrible for the patient as it is nerve-wracking for the nurse...I have never felt so sick in my whole life...I really thought I was going to die...my twins were delivered at 30 5/7 and just Monday turned 10yrs old...I don't think any nurse likes having a patient that is THAT sick but it makes for good experience.
