Just thought I'd stop in and say hello...
I'm 39 (INFP for you Myers-Briggs fans ), from Scotland :heartbeat in the UK, and am in my first year at an Italian uni, studying nursing.
I'm finding the academic side pretty tough... we have about a million exams, and the absurdities of this faculty just keep adding up...
Plus a lot of the exams are oral exams, not written, and that freaks me out big time...
Still, I'm on my first placement in a few weeks and am very much looking forward to that.
Don't know where I want to end up working - I'm curious to see where my placements take me, too - but possibly psych, geriatrics or oncology. But I'm keeping an open mind too :)
Loving the forum - lots of lovely, helpful, wise and supportive people here. Love ya all!! :redbeathe

Cheers!

Welcome to the forum, glad you joined! It sounds like an interesting
program.Would love to hear more about nursing school in Italy.
As for the work load, that's nursing school. Our first day, they handed
us learning packets for each specialty. The amount of reading/testing/
worry/fright/amazement did not end until a few days before graduation.
Then, it was on to study for the Boards.
Sounds like you are right on track!
Just study hard and take each day as it comes along...
When you need a break, we're all here!

Thanks for your replies jahra and silverdragon :)
I'm enjoying the course a lot... passed Biochem today by some miracle...!
We can actually choose when to sit our exams here - excellent in some ways, but also a bit of a double-edged sword...!
The only exam we need to pass to move from one academic year to the next is our placement exam
Apart from that, you could in theory save them all up till just before graduation... scary thought!
:clpty:Congratulations!
Please keep us posted...

Guys whatever you do don't move to Italy!!I'm an Anglo-italian nurse, lived my whole life in Italy.Right now we are living in a very bad recession, our health care system is sinking. There are no jobs for nurses considering that hospitals are actually closing down. Or if you are lucky you might get a job with a 3months contract and after that that's it!!I'll be moving to the UK in a couple of months, just waiting for the NMC registration!!
Sorry to give bad news but just wanted to warn you!!
