Hello, I am new here.

Hi! I am new here! I don't know if I am posting right, I hope so. I am curious, are there any nurses in here who specialize in ostomy care? I am starting LPN school in Aug. of 2006, I am starting school in January of 2006 in order to get my pre-reqs, and then I am going on to get my RN. I want to specialize in ostomy care (perhaps as a therapists?) and I was wondering if anyone could tell me how I need to go about specializing in that?

Hi! Welcome to allnurses! There is a "Wound, Ostomy, and Continence" forum here and someone there may be better able to help you. Sometimes people rarely leave their specialty forum so they may not see you in this one! I believe you'd have to have at least a year experience before you can specialize in something like ostomy care. Enjoy your stay at allnurses!

:)
