hi guys, i just wanted to share my story... :o

so im from the philippines- southeast asia (for others not familiar with the country) and im already third year nursing student. :rotfl:

See, nursing is really a big boom of opportunity here in our country, so the effect is there are mushrooming nsg schools everywhere you look. :nurse:

I dont know about the new students but my purpose of going to nursing school is to get outta here and get employed somewhere else. Im sure youve heard that reasons a lot of times. :smokin:

anyway,, here's the problem... since now im in third year, major subjects are being taught. everytime i open my med surg book, here's what happens--

i become drowsy!! :stone right! is it because of the thickness, or am i not really interested?? :chair:

i asked that myself. but really i am interested. Whenever the professor blabs about lesson, i sat upstraight and listen. after the class, i felt myself motivated and promise myself to study the lesson at home. :clown: that is when i get home... theres the syndrome again! and that goes on and on and on. :stone

I notice when i read, is that i skip from one subject to another

and when i decided to get serious, i read every word, every sentence, every paragraph going deeper and deeper.... then suddenly my young brother will jump and scream in front of me :rotfl: and will say "Kanina ka pa diyan eh, laro naman tayo!!!" Its Tagalog language of saying "Lets play! Youre always there the whole time!"

how can i concentrate! and heres another thing, as i read my nsg books.. all i can think of is... how can i apply to other countries.. :lol2:

.....will i earn lots of money?........ :coollook:

.....will i pass the board exams?....CGFNS.....NCLEX.. :o

...... my classmate is much better than me..... :crying2:

.......this is too difficult...... :stone

......its too hot in here :angryfire (the location of Philippines is near the equator)

i cant concentrate :bluecry1:

there goes my mind.. My mind flies...

So its confirmed. im messed up.

THank you for spending time reading this. :)

can i request you to spend a little time replying to me and help me

through this?

I will really appreciate it. I will gladly take your advise.

Heartfelt thanks in advance! :sofahider

DIAGNOSIS: NORMAL!

No matter where you live or where you go to school. Those things are perfectly normal. We all go through those days when we just cant get in a study mode, and every little distraction seems so enormous. There have been days when I needed to study and wife was home. Ske says you really need to study, but keeps interupting me for silly little things. So, on those days I may drive 60 miles to scxhool and spend the afternoon in the library studying. We use Brunners MED/SURG book, and on one of those days I really didnt want to study, I weighed that darn book and it weighed 12lbs. Then i knew 12lbs of info would ne ver fit into my head. Got a good laugh from it and finally studied a while. Just keep in mind all those things you listed that you wanted, and it will help you keep focused.

I can seriously relate. Everytime I open a text book I nearly get whiplash from falling asleep. I read a study somewhere that it happens to most students some time or another, most of the time it's boredom. We'd much rather being doing anything but studying, the material isn't all that interesting.

Good luck in all you do.

:) When I study at home I do the same thing. Thats why I leave the house to stay awake.
