So I'm looking into becoming a nurse, but I'm sort of confused. I know I have to take my pre-rec classes, and then my plan was to transfer to a 4 yr college to get my BSN, but do I have to get into a nursing program before I get my BSN? Or doesn't getting my BSN mean I'm also a nurse? Sorry if these questions are stupid, I just haven't ever had these things explained to me so I'm a bit confused. Also I live in southern Cali, in Palm Springs if that helps, and I currently am taking, math, eng., health ed, and Couseling, and next semester I will take more math and eng., history, and phsycology .
Thanks for Ur help in advance.

Your best approach is to contact the schools you're interested in and obtain all the information from them. Schools vary in these specific requirements. They can not only tell you exactly which pre-requisites you will need, but also provide you with a good idea of the GPA & test scores for previous classes that were admitted.
The most cost-effective approach is to obtain your pre-requisites from a Community College, then apply for admission to the BSN program of your choice.
Best of luck to you!

Your questions are certainly reasonable, definitely not stupid! :-) The only way you'll know if you ask. I transferred into a BSN program from taking all of my pre-requisites at a community college which was very affordable. Yes, you do need to get into a nursing program before you receive the BSN. Also, a BSN does not mean you are a nurse, but that you have successfully passed through a BSN nursing program. The NCLEX verifies competency in what you have learned thus providing you with licensure to practice as an RN.

Have you checked out the CSUSB site? The nursing program should have its own site with answers to your questions and contact info. Read every page, read through the application, read through the FAQs, every word. Welcome to the Department of Nursing
The BSN program is nursing school, and you'll apply for that separately from the university. Each school has different requirements, and you need to be well above the requirements to get into a BSN program in CA. Consider applying to a few of the CSUs, anywhere you're willing to move, just to cast a wide net. Be sure to keep your grades up as well.
