Hello. I am looking into the nursing program at Harrison. I know they are not NLN accredited and I am wondering if this is going to efffect my employment. Any grads from there have a hard time finding a job? Any information would be great.

It may not, but it definitely could. Jobs for new grads are becoming more and more hard to find, especially in high-demand areas. A lot of Indiana hospitals (Clarian, Methodist, etc.) require NLN accreditation because of their magnet status. An increasing number of facilities are also requiring BSNs. I know from reading some of the posts on this board that Harrison's tuition is very expensive - more than double that of some of the public schools. If I were you I would seriously consider your other options.

Good luck with your decision.

Hi!

I am not a Harrison College student, but I do know that they are up for their NLNAC accredidation. They are set to achieve this in the Fall of this year, so it may be a good decision to go there.

Good Luck!!!

I visited Harrison several months ago and found the staff to be extremely nice. However, there were a couple of things that didn't 'sit right' with me. The cost of 50k seemed pretty steep...compared to similar schools. Also, they made it clear the Ivy Tech classes I've already completed probably wouldn't transfer. So, I'd have to take their versions of A&P 101, 102, and 201. (Would human anatomy really be different, "we call this a heart, although some refer to it as the liver" ;)) Soooooo....I took it off the list. Hope my scores are high enough for Ivy Tech....fingers crossed.

Harrison College receives prestigious nursing accreditation

Thursday, April 7, 2011 by Nicole Stultz

INDIANAPOLIS (April 7, 2011) - Harrison College announced today that the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission (NLNAC) has granted accreditation to the Associate Degree in Nursing program offered at the college's Indianapolis East campus. NLNAC, considered the gold standard in nursing accreditation, accredits colleges and universities across all of higher education.

Does anyone know if the Harrison in Indy has night classes for the RN program yet?
