Hand Washing

How do you encourage children to wash their hands? The kiddos at my school never seem to wash up!

Every kid who comes to me gets to use my special foam hand sanitizer. They love the stuff! Of course, that doesn't get the other 420 students in the school, but I do have some teachers who are big on hand washing. My office is on the way to the lunch room and a couple teachers keep bottles of hand sanitizer in my office. They grab their bottle and give each child a squirt before they enter. What we need is some of those hand sanitizer stations like they have on cruise ships!

We have the hand sanitizers like the ones used in hospital rooms - in the cafeteria at the kiddoes height. They have to line up and use hand sanitizer before eating.

I have placed little cardboard hands on each bathroom door and beside the sink in the bathrooms. The hands say... "Did you remember to wash your hands?"

I like this idea! Maybe I'll have my Girl Scouts make these for crafts.
