got my first interview!!! its coming up ....

can anyone tell me what to expect? I applied by mail to a hospital 35 min away and it is an OB position. but I am meeting with their nurse recruitre, ....is that normal? What can I expect? do you think this is just a generic interview? wouldn't I be meeting with the nurse mgr of the floor if it was for that particular position?

Research the hospital and let them know why you choose them over others.

Can I ask what Hospital?

..I wouldn't say which hospital it is here...

Each hospital has its own way of recruiting nurses. However, many would want you to meet with the nurse recruiter first who then introduces you to the particular unit Mgr if they have determined you have what they are looking for. Your first impression matters. So, be ready for general interview questions especially as it related to nursing such as why OB, your long/short term goals, and why you chose the hospital. Goodluck!!

Well it sure does have me stumped as to why the nurse recruiter and not the flor mgr. that is why I am not letting myself get to excited yet. I looked online and the positions they have available are O.B., ccu, and ER so I know ER is out (at least I think) and the other two are my first choices. So if I get hired for any of those I would be thrilled! *fingers crossed*

Hi -- I've been on 2 interviews so far, and it's standard protocol to meet first w/ someone in HR who gives you a brief rundown of salary, potential start date, etc. She'll then escort you to the floor to meet w/ the nurse manager who will ask most of the interview questions, e.g., why are you interested in this type of position, why interested in nursing, etc.

Hope this helps.

yeah I thought that too but HR is in a totally different building and about 6 blocks from the hospital. Was just wondering.

P.S. it is going to be interesting, I had a DR friend at church come up to me this past weekend and told me not to commit to anything till he had a chance to talk to some people . (he knows I would rather not have to drive to next town to work!) Good to know Drs here in town by first name I guess.

Our church had quite a few of them.
