Just wanted to share my excitement with you, 2 years ago I wrote a business case for a new nurse led clinic, didn't expect anything to come of it but needed to raise the need to my trust board.
In November I was called to my general managers office to discuss my proposal, at that meeting I was asked what I could do with a purpose built area and even though it was acknowledged that I would need more staff they could offer 0.7 of a full time post. I have other staff that were keen to be involved (we are a team of nurse practitioners).
THis month with lots of planning and hard work the new clinic opens.
It is all brand new, new building, furniture, computers there are still lots of things that we need such as a receptionist and secretary but it is a start.
I am really excited, our first patients arrive Wednesday afternoon.
Fingers crossed

Great news I bet you are just thrilled that all your hard work has paid off
Thanks both, I am getting very nervous now I don't think I have forgotten anything but there is lots of very high powered people watching to see how this project does. The funding came directly from the government
Wish me luck

Well, we got today over with without a problem, very relieved. The patients loved the new unit, had 3 DNA's not sure if they got lost though so will follow up with phone calls

good luck
however, what is an led clinic ?
"Nurse led" muffie, my clinic is entirely independent of any medics. Our patients are referred to us from the consultant clinics and we do a full health assessment from there. We then refer on to any other specialities or for investigations such as Xrays, Echocardiograph, lung function or refer back to thier general practitioner for optimisation before surgery.
We also have nurse prescribers so if they need any medication altering then this can be done at the clinic as well.
glad the first day went well, DNA's will always happen bet 3 isn't too bad
