Good Stethoscope??

Published

I just started learning how to take vital signs, and I'm having trouble hearing through my stethoscope---all I hear is my hand holding on to the end. I know I got one of the cheapest. What is a good one that I should be able to hear what I need with?

does your steth have two sides? a diaphram and a bell? if it does it might be switched to the bell side which is why you might be hearing your hand...try twisting the head and see if you can switch it around:)

I have a littmann and love it!

I to have a Littmann and wouldn't trade it for anything! I love that scope, every time I have to use one of the cheaper models here at school, I have all kinds of problems.

I think all nurses will agree that any Littmann is the best. A good Sprague can be bought inexpensively. Do you have a hearing problem? If so Littmann has good amplified scopes. One our cardiologists uses an amplified even though he does not have hearing deficit.

I have an ultrascope and I love it. In their ads they compare the sound quality to that of bose speakers. I know the littmans are great as well. I went with the ultrascope because of the quality and because they are so cute! I got a red one with ladybugs. They are price the same as littmans. ($80-100)

I too recommend a Littman all the way.

I had a ton of trouble hearing with other ones, and when I finally bought a Littman, the difference is amazing.

I beleive I bought the egg shaped one. I find that a lot of people like that one, and it works great for me.

They were relatively inexpensive, I belieive I paid 42$ for mine..not bad when it saves you a lot of pain trying to hear a blood pressure/ listening to the heart! :heartbeat

hope that helps :)

I received a Littman as a gift and I have to agree they are worth the money and they last a long time. You can get them cheap if you look around on the Internet or eBAY. I have the Master Cardiology and I love it. Christmas is coming up.. ;)
