  1. Thanks for your reply. We also are currently looking at a written report. Phoned reports have the ability to delay transport 2-3 hours, which is unacceptable the patients. Our administration is pushing this issue and this seems to be the new trend. We are considering attempt to call. If the nurse is busy, we will tube the written report to the floor and transport within 30 minutes.
  2. Wyeth-Ayerst Laboratories is the producer of Cordarone (amio). Chec their website or check in Circulation 2000 issue for guidelines.
  3. I think all nurses will agree that any Littmann is the best. A good Sprague can be bought inexpensively. Do you have a hearing problem? If so Littmann has good amplified scopes. One our cardiologists uses an amplified even though he does not have hearing deficit.
  4. I am trying to see how other facilities get their admitted patients out of the e.c.c. after a room is assigned. Do you call report, fax, written report. How do you get around the delays. Administration of my facility want our e.c.c. patients out within 30 minutes of room assignment.
  5. Ain't life great! Sorry, but this is not abnormal (your feelings or the way the hospital presented itself). First, you have to realize that you are a new nurse and being that you don't have organizational and time management skills that even a 1 year grad has. AND THAT'S O.K.!!! You need to talk to your charge nurse and ask for help. Don't let this discourage you. We have began using graduates in the e.c.c. (until recently completely unheard of). It's not easy and some don't make it. You must understand that the above 2 skills must mature before things will get better. Med-surg may not be your forte. Look around. Try something new. You need to talk with dh. He needs to be helping you too.
  6. There will always be a nursing shortage. Don't worry about a job. I don't know where you live, but I would suggest applying at multiple schools. The average age of nurses in the state of Texas is mid to late 40's which means that a large majority of nurses here will be retiring in the not too distant future. If not, there is always crna, np, sales rep opportunities, forensics you can diversify into. My best suggestion is to specialize as soon as you graduate. It will make you much more marketable.
