Hi all! I am sorry if this is posted in the wrong forum. Anyways, I am going to be graduating in December with my associates in nursing, and I want to start on my bsn asap from there. I am newly a single mom, and my x has no involvment with our kids anymore. Thus, very little help with childcare, so an on-line program will really be my only option once I get a job out of school. I will most likely not be able to work in a hospital, as weekend care is not available to me. I will probably have to get a job in a dr's office until my kids are older (youngest is 2). Anyways, off track here...I was just looking at the online options for rn-bsn and there are a lot! Any recommendations on which are good to go with? Oh, and I live in Massachusetts if that helps at all. Thanks so much!!!

Has anyone attended Azusa Pacific University RN to BSN online? If so, did you complete it and how was it and do you recommend it?

Try looking at your state university system first - Umass Boston has an online RN-BSN program, and if you're in MA that is probably your least expensive option, not to mention you'll have a degree from a respected local university.

check out the distance learning forum under the student section. A few popular, reasonably priced programs you may want to research are University of Wyoming, Ohio University, University of Texas at Arlington. There are more, but those are three that Ive been looking into and that are discussed a lot on the forums. Good luck! Maybe you can work in an outpatient surgery center or something like that since its M-F. If you work PRN at a hospital, Im pretty sure you dont have to meet a weekend requirement. Also when I was part time I was required 1 weekend a month, but Im sure that may be able to be negotiated with a manager who was understanding of your childcare situation.

I attended ODU's RN to BSN online program. All of the instructors were very helpful and really understanding. Good Luck:twocents:

I did Chamberlain College of Nursing and liked it. It is a bit pricey, but required NO clinicals. Several other programs I looked into required me to find a BSN or higher nurse to do clinicals with which can be a pain depending on your area. Good luck!!

MOM to 4- COuld you tell me a little more about the ODU RN to BSN online program. I have been a nurse for 11 years and am trying to find a online program that fits for me. I work nights(2 or 3 nights a week) and have three elementary age kids at home. I would get most of my work done on the days I was off and kids at school. What were the online classes like? I am nervous b/c it has been awhile since I have been in school and school was always a challenge for me although I graduated and became a RN :) Do you watch any videos or is everything just papers, test, discussion forums? How many classes did you take at a time? Any help would be greatly appreciated!! Thank you!

I am planning on starting WGU, the price is really low, and you move along at your own pace. There are many posts regarding this school.
Carin3,
You can finish in 1 year if you go full time Fall, Spring, and Summer. I went two years because I went part time. Tests and classwork is completely online. There are virtual class meeting so you will be required to have a camera and headset. You can go to Old Dominion's website and pull up the program and see exactly how the classes are split up every semester.

I second WGU.
I have finished 3 classes in 15 days, and the price is out of this world.
