You want to leave the unit? Your doctor put you here because this is where you need to be. If you leave you will be leaving AMA please, sign this form before you go. I will document and notify your doctor that you are left AMA. Once you do that you will not be able to return without going through the ER. By the way once you leave ama you become completely responsible for anything that may happen to you as a result of your leaving, you could die as a result. Your insurance, medicare nor midicaide will pay for any part of your stay or care thus far, you will be billed directly for all care and services. Sign here.

Some patients come to the hospital and expect to be waited on hand and foot and then they don't even follow doctor's orders or they do things the nurses advise them not to do.

If you are going to come to the hospital and act like a complete fool, why are you here wasting everyone's time.

Honestly, I don't have time for peoples drama. My other patient's BP was dropping and the whole time that idiot was ranting and raving about not being able to go off the unit. HELLO YOU"RE IN ICU.

All the drama just takes away from people who are truly sick. If someone has the energy to be a rude PITA, then they're not that sick.

Amen to that:yeah:

I'm still a new nurse..so it's not just me? The patients who insist they CAN get up ad lib, ind. and walk around their room and insist they should be allowed to walk down the hallway...suddenly can't turn themselves, feed themselves, open their juice etc...? *sigh* I thought I was losing it lol.

I think I'd tell them if they are too weak to feed and turn themselves, they're too weak to be getting up and walking around. (Especially to the smoking area)

My best friend is an admission nurse and she went to interview a patient that spoke Spanish (my friend speaks it also). My friend felt that she would make it easier on the other nurses since most of us don't. When she went to the bedside, the patient was watching a soap opera, and stated that she didn't wish to be disturbed. My friend tells her that there may not be another Spanish speaking person to come do a face to face interview for awhile, and that the next time she has a need, it may have to be through the language line on the telephone. Patient tells her "F*** you, I'm busy". My friend told me that in her eyes, this is not a person who came for treatment, she came to vacation in Club Med. Sickening, really. (This isn't a rant on those that speak other languages--no flames...) this is just saying that it should be common sense to take advantage of a time when concerns can be addressed, needs taken care of, and she blows this nurse off for a soap opera. For all of that...she should have either taped it, or waited to come when the darned show was over.

No flames here. The lady was just being rude. I don't act that way when someone calls/visits, and my favorite T.V. show is on.
