Going beyond BSN?

Im still working on my GE's and planning to transfer to a 4yr and do accelerated BSN program. I plan to work afterwards. When I'm confident enough, I'll do my masters. And when I get more confident, I plan on doing my DNP somewhere just to have more outside experience. Do you guys have anything in mind after getting your BSN?

After a few years of working, when I'm ready, I plan to enter a CNM/WHNP program.

Are you gonna do both or they're the same thing?

You do understand that an accelerated program requires you to have a bachelors in another field.

Yeah, you're right. My mistake. I mean just the basic trimester BSN which finishes in 2 years.

Yes! I want to work for a couple of years to gain experience and pay off my student loans. Then I plan to get my masters. I'm torn between CNM/WHNP or NNP. Not sure which one yet, but definitely one of those.

That sounds great! Do you have a school in mind you want to do your NP?

The programs that I know of that finish in 2 years require a bachelors in another subject.....where find you find a program that did not.

I'll transfer at Cal State Long Beach. It's very impacted so you have to finish GE's and other competitive prereqs before transferring. You enter as a junior and work on your BSN. They have two options for the program.

1. Basic BSN- no classes on summer, 6 semesters. Finishes in 3 years.

2. Trimester-with classes on summer, 6 semesters. Finishes in 2 years.

They have a program for students with BS in other fields, but they do the entry level MSN since they get credit for courses theyve finished for their first BS.

If ever someone already goes to CSULB, pls correct me if Im wrong.

Right now I'm working on my ADN. After a few years of work (3-5), I'm going to go back to school and do an ADN to BSN program. After that I'm going to get my Doctor of Nursing Practice so that I can prescribe and be called "doctor". I mean, I'm going to consider myself a "gent" after I have my RN, but being an official doctor and having the right to prescribe will be the icing on the cake.

I'm going start my ABSN in Fall 2014 and then after I graduate, I am going to work in whatever department I need to based on what specialty I decide to pursue and will either aim for a DNP or a doctorate as a CRNA. :)

I wanted to do the ADN too at first. But I talked to my counselor and she said I have a pretty good shot for BSN. I didnt want to do it at first since Ive been on Pell Grant for almost 4 semesters. She said I can do BSN and Financial aid can still cover it so I will do that one. She said it's the same length for BSN and ADN on the university im going to transfer so I'd rather do the BSN .
