Going for ADN but have BA in different field

I am going for an ADN. I have one more prerequisite. I can't afford the BSN program. I have a BA in education. Will that help when I eventually graduate and job search? How soon can I do a RN to BSN program online, because that's my plan.

The BA is not likely to make a difference at all, unfortunately. Depending on the program, you may be able to roll right into an RN-to-BSN program. Have you researched the job market in your area to be sure you're going to be able to find a job with an ADN? There are some areas that are seeing so many new grad nurses and even experienced nurses looking for jobs along with other advisories for BSN degrees that employers will only hire nurses already holding a BSN. You say you can't afford the BSN program- before you make a final commitment, make sure you don't end up paying for a degree that will mean having to relocate to find a job.

There are programs designed for those who have a bachelor's in other areas and would like to enter nursing. Search for an accelerated BSN program or a MEPN program in your area and see if they might be a good fit for you.
