sorry to be taking so long to get back to you all. i drove from ohio to reno and left on 17th and arrived on fri the 21st. jsut got able to check messages on computer. boy that drive was something. i never did cross country driving before. thankfully my grandmother rode with me. she did not drive but kept me company. beautiful country we live in.

so far, REno is HOT. but i love the mountains. i have a book with everything about reno and lake tahoe in it. i plan to see the hot air balloons especially.

again thanks for your replies. really helps me becasue this is first time and i did feel homesick. reminded me of when i left home for college soooo many years ago.

manzanita gates apts are great.

Glad to hear you made it safely. Enjoy Reno!

Glad to hear you made it! I'll be moving in to Manzanita on Sept. 8th...and plan on doing the balloon races too! Oh...and I want to see the camel races as well! I'll be starting in the ER on that Monday 9/11. How's the hospital? How many hours was the drive from Ohio to Reno? Did you stop and see things on the way or just drive straight through?

Ya'll will really like the balloon races. It's just so cool to see that many hot air balloons up in the sky at once!

I always mean to go to Virginia City for the Camel Races....I always hear how fun they are. But I never have. I may have to make it a point to get myself up there this year. Virginia City is real cute with lil shops and whatnot...it's very old fashioned. There's an 8 seat counter cafe there called Landrum's at the Mark Twain Casino that has great food!! We sometimes drive up there on a weekend morning for one of their chili cheese omelets with home fries. YUM!
