Getting back into nursing.

Nurses Retired

Published

Hi all!

I am an RN in Fl. Two years ago I had a baby who ended up in NICU for four months and I left my job with the Florida Dept of Health to take care of him and I've been home ever since. I have my ADN and have recently returned to school for my BSN and to hopefully go on for my NP.

I am wanting to go back to work PRN somewhere to get back into the swing and to have something to put on my resume for grad school when I get there. Is it possible to be hired after a two year hiatus? Any advice for me getting back into it?

Thanks :)

I was but in the same speciality I did before (L&D/mother baby)

Good luck!

How many years of nursing experience did you have before your hiatus? If you had at least a year of experience I don't think a 2 year break is a big deal at all. Your skills are pretty current.

Yeah I did a year med surg and then 3 in community health.

I moved your post to retired/inactive nurses as there are several posters here that have been down the same road. Best wishes.
